Dear Ms. Wavrick:
This confirms agreement to submit this Side Letter outlining negotiated wage
increases and other issues beginning January 1, 1992 through December 31, 1993
for approval by the Board of Supervisors.
This agreement is entered into by Contra Costa County and California Nurses
Association representatives to provide salary adjustments while a comprehensive
Memorandum of Understanding is being prepared. That document will be finalized
by the parties as soon as possible and then will be submitted to the Board of
Supervisors for approval .
Wages:
- Lump sum payment of 5% in lieu of retroactive pay for 1/1/92 through
4/30/92.
- 5.0195% (49 levels) effective May 1, 1992.
- 3.0439% (30 levels) effective July 1, 1992.
-3.9750% (39 levels) effective January 1; 1993.
Tenure Steps. An additional differential of 2% after 15 years of service.
Double Shift Bonus. Increase to $48.00 effective January 1, 1992; $50.00
effective July 1, 1992, and $52.00 effective January 1, 1993.
Weekend Bonus. Increase to $30.00 effective January 1, 1992 for non-scheduled
weekend work.
Continuing Education Reimbursement. Effective 7/1/92 increase amount to
250.00 per fiscal year.
Hospital Differential . Effective January 1, 1992, the County agrees to pay
each full time, part-time and permanent-intermittent Registered Nurse assigned
to specific units/services, a hospital differential of $60.00 per month.

INTERNATIONAL PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION MEMBER
Mileage Reimbursement. Implement Internal Revenue Service mileage allowance
(currently. $.28/mile) effective April 1, 1992.
Retirement Benefits. The County agrees to participate in a joint
labor-management committee whose specific objective will be to identify and
evaluate any feasible methods of lessening or eliminating the difference in
benefit levels between Tier I and Tier II retirement plans.
Case Management Time. Pending confirmation from CNA. Family Nurse
Practitioners will receive either ten (10) minutes of case management time for
every_ four (4) hours worked in primary care clinics with the possibility of
some flexibility, or, fifteen (15) minutes of case management time for every
four (4) hours worked in primary care clinics.
Shift Differential . Effective 7/1/92 a Registered Nurse released from duty at
the request of Nursing Administration prior to the completion of twelve (12)
hours work will receive the appropriate shift differential on those hours
worked in excess of eight (8) hours.

Bilingual P% County and Association agree that bilingual pay differential
will be j-50-.0 effective January 1, 1992.
Advanced Level Nurses. The Health Services Department will submit a proposal
to include nurses who work in Post Partum and Labor and Delivery in the
Advanced level of the Registered Nurse Deep Class.
If the foregoing conforms to your understanding, please indicate your approval
and acceptance in the space provided below.
