Spooner, Contracts AdministratoCosta DATE: May 27, 1992 49 County SUBJECT:Approve Standard Agreement (Amendment) #29-203-47 with the State Department of Health Services for the Women, Infants and Children Supplemental Food Program (WIC) SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve and authorize the Chair to execute on behalf of the County, Standard Agreement (Amendment) #29-203-47 (State #91-12020-A1) with the State Department of Health Services, effective February 1, 1992, for the Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants . and Children (WIC) . II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND: For over fourteen years the County has participated in the WIC Program with the State. This is a mandated program under the Community Health Services Division of the State Department of Health Services. WIC is a nutrition education, counseling and food supplement program for low-income, pregnant, postpartum and breast-feeding women, infants and children at nutritional risk. Approximately 8,750 clients are served by this program. Approval of Standard Agreement (Amendment) #29-203-47 will allow minor revisions of line items in the budget. The Board Chair should sign nine copies of the agreement, eight of which should then be returned to the Contracts and Grants Unit for submission to the State Department of Health Services.
