Spooner, Contracts Administrato Costa- DATE: ATE: May 8, 1.992 County SUBJECT: Approval of Unpaid Student Training Agreement #26-240 with Shenandoah University SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve and authorize the Chair to execute on behalf of the County, Unpaid Student Training Agreement #26-240 with Shenandoah University, for the period June 1, 1992 through May 31, 1995 for the provision of clinical experience for physical therapy students. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND: 1 The purpose of this agreement is to provide physical therapy students with the opportunity to integrate academic knowlege with application skills and attitudes at progressively higher levels of performance requirements and responsibility. Supervised field work experience in physical therapy is considered to be an integral part of both the educational and professional preparation. As a teaching hospital, Merrithew Memorial Hospital can provide the requisite field educa- tion, while at the same time, taking advantage of the students' services to patients.
