Agreement #28-527 with the State of California, Department of Social Services,
in the amount of $12,490 for the period May 1, 1992, through January 31, 1993 for
the Food Stamp Outreach Program.
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Approval of this agreement will result in $12,490 of federal matching funds from
the State of California, for the Food Stamp Outreach Program. Sources of funding
are as follows:
$12,490 State of California (federal matching funds)

III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND:
The San Francisco Foundation has provided funds since April, 1991, for a project

time in the State of California, federal matching funds have been obtained for
food stamp outreach activities. The goal of the Food Stamp Program is to
increase food stamp access and participation in the program to reduce hunger in
Contra Costa County.
The Health Services Prevention Program staff will continue to coordinate the
efforts of the Contra Costa Nutrition and Food Policy Consortium and their member
organizations, which include the County's Social Services Department, emergency
food sites, senior centers, childcare programs, immigrant services, unemployment
offices and churches, to increase participation in the food stamp program by
identifying, and providing information and referral services to eligible Contra
Costa residents.
The Board Chair should sign the Drug-Free Workplace Certification page and nine
copies of the agreement, eight of which should then be returned to the Contracts
and Grants Unit for submission to the State.
