THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
DATE: June 23, 1992
MATTER OF RECORD
---------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------
SUBJECT: Proposed cuts in the Social Service Department, Senior
Service Aides.
Kagey Dorosz, 1305 Macdonald Avenue, Richmond, Social Service
Supervisor, appeared before the Board on behalf of herself, Ben
Conchas and Lola Lomba, Senior Service Aides, urging the Board to
reconsider proposed layoffs of Senior Service Aides within the Social
Service Department inasmuch as their salaries are funded by federal
dollars, not county funds.
Sue Goldberg, 1305 Macdonald Avenue, Richmond, with In-home
Supportive Service Program, urged the Board to retain the Senior
Service Aides, describing the great value of their work.
Board members discussed the sources of funding, the valuable
service performed by the Senior Service Aides, and the current budget
dilemma, and noted that the matter was not on the agenda for action.
The County Administrator agreed that he would take the Board' s
comments as direction that he and the Director of Social Service look
into the funding for Senior Service Aides to see if any County funds
are used.
THIS IS A MATTER OF RECORD. NO BOARD ACTION WAS TAKEN.
