Our committee has reviewed the composition of the Women' s Advisory Committee and. the recommendations for appointment to these two seats and concurs with the recommendation of the Women' s Advisory Committee that Ms . Fuller and Ms . Talley be appointed to the Committee. Jensen, Staff SUBJECT IOC AGENDA ITEM: RECOMMENDATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT TO THE WOMEN'S ADVISORY COMMITTEE Attached for your review are two applications submitted for appointment consideration to Homemaker Category and.Clerical Employees Category on the Women's Advisory Committee. The term for these positions expire on 2/28/95. A concerted effort was made to recruit applicants for these positions including the issuance of a press release to the media, PSAs, and notices to women's organizations and to our interested party mailing list (notice attached). Our Membership Review Committee interviewed both applicants and explained the work of the committee, activities undertaken and issues targeted by the committee, and membership attendance requirements. Ms. Talley, Clerical Employee Category applicant, is not employed in a clerical position, however, as an EDD representative she does have extensive experience working with individuals in the clerical field. These are volunteer positions; members are eligible to receive a $10 stipend per meeting if they do not receive expense reimbursement from another source. The positions available are for a clerical employees representative, a homemaker representative, and a disabled representative. Individuals applying for the clerical employees position should be employed in a clerical position or have extensive experience in the clerical field. Individuals applying for the homemaker position should be an individual who does not work in the labor force but does work in the home providing unpaid services for family members. Individuals applying for the disabled position should work with, counsel, or advise disabled individuals who have a physical, mental or learning disability or applicant should be disabled. Applicants must reside in Contra Costa County. The committee is a 22 member group, established in 1980 by the Board. Its purpose is to educate the community and to advise the Board on issues relating to the changing social and economic conditions of women in the county. The committee meets on the third Tuesday of each month, 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. , in Concord. Applications can be obtained by calling 646-5391.
