SUBJECT: Speed limits on MARSH CREEK ROAD (Road No. 3971), Clayton /
Brentwood
The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors RESOLVES THAT:
On the basis of an engineering and traffic survey and recommendations thereon by the
County Public Works Department's Traffic Engineering Division and pursuant to the
County Ordinance Code Chapter 46-2 (Sec. 46-2.002 ff.), this Board hereby determines
that the present speedlimit(s) established on the below-described road, a street within
the criteria of Vehicle Code Section 22358 is(are) more than reasonable and safe, and
hereby determines and declares that the following speed limit(s) is(are) most appropriate,
reasonable, and safe prima facie speed limit(s) there:
Pursuant to Section 22358 of the California Vehicle Code, no
vehicle shall travel in excess of 45 mph on Marsh Creek Road
(Road #3971) beginning at the easterly city limit of Clayton
near Pinelane and extending easterly a distance of 5.3 miles,
thence;
No vehicle shall travel in excess of 35 mph on Marsh Creek Road beginning
at a point 5.3 miles east of the Clayton city limit and extending easterly a
distance of 2.3 miles, thence;
No vehicle shall travel in excess of 50 mph beginning at a point 7.6 miles
east of Clayton city limit and extending easterly to State Highway 4, a
distance of 10.0 miles.
(Traffic Resolution #1616 and Traffic Resolution #2226 pertaining to the
existing 55 mph speed limit on the easterly portion of Marsh Creek Road
is hereby rescinded.)
