Approval of Agreement #28-528 with County of Alameda
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. RECOMMENDED ACTION:
A. Approve: and authorize the Chair to execute on behalf of the County, Agreement
#28-528 with Alameda County, effective April 1, 1992, through June 30, 1992,
allocating funding not to exceed $62,787, to enhance coordination of
comprehensive services to Contra Costa County residents with HIV Disease and
their families.
B. Approve: and authorize the Chair to execute on behalf of the County, Agreement
#28-528-1 with Alameda County, effective July 1, 1992 through March 31, 1993,
allocating funding not to exceed $188,362, for continued coordination of
servicers to Contra Costa County residents with HIV Disease and their families.
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Approval of these agreements will result in an allocation from Alameda County, as
the Grantee of federal funds under the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources
Emergency (CARE) Act, Title I, not to exceed a total of $251,149. No County match
is required.
III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND:
The Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency (CARE) Act of 1990 was enacted
into federal law for the purpose of providing emergency assistance to localities
that are" disproportionately affected by the HIV epidemic and to provide financial
assistance for the development, organization, coordination, and operation of more
effective and cost efficient systems for the delivery of essential services top
individuals and families with the HIV Disease.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has designated the County of
Alameda as "Grantee" for the purpose of administering the Ryan White CARE Act, Title
I funds to those public health agencies which have a cumulative total of 2,000 (or
more) people with HIV Disease.
Approval of ,Agreements #28-528 and #28-528-1 will allocate 25% of the total Ryan
White CARE Act, Title I funds received by the County of Alameda, to Contra Costa
County.
The Board Chair should sign six copies of the agreement, five of which should be
returned to the Contracts and Grants Unit for submission to the County of Alameda
for their approval. I
