O. Box 942898 Sacramento, CA Gentlemen: The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors endorses the enclosed application from the Williamson Ranch Foundation for acceptance of their historic park on the Register of Historic Landmarks . Also enclosed is a copy of the Board Order authorizing the endorsement. The Shannon/Williamson homestead has been in the same family since 1867 when it was first homesteaded by Thomas Shannon. It is the last of the old-time ranches in this part of the state. While there are only four acres remaining, the house and barn are well preserved; and there are many artifacts, farm equipment and tools on the property. The park is part of Contra Costa County's heritage and is a well-known local landmark. The Board of Supervisors believes this homestead should be preserved as a state landmark and requests your consideration of the enclosed application. Sincerely, Sunne Wright McPeak Chair, Board of Supervisors ArrES May ..5-_' BNowN. rE°—i 1992
