MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: May 5, 1992 SUBJECT: Approval of Contract Change Order No. 15, for the Miranda Avenue Bicycle Route Project in the Alamo area, Project No. 0662-6134128-89 Specific Request(s)or Recommendation(s) &Background&Justification I. Recommended Action: APPROVE Contract Change Order No. 15 in the approximate amount of $2,500.00 and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director to execute it in order to compensate the contractor, Vintage Grading and Paving for work resulting in changes in design and field conditions. II. Financial Impact: The project contingency funds are sufficient to cover the change order costs. The source of the funds is the Alamo Area of Benefit. III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: The cumulative total of Contract Change Orders Nos. 1 through 15 exceeds $25,000.00, requiring Board approval. Redwood railing was added at the back of 3 drainage inlets for safety and minor drainage work performed to an existing asphalt concrete driveway. These unforseen items resulted in additional force account work. IV. Consequences of Negative Action: The lack of approval would preclude payment for the work required.
