SPARKS, DIRECTOR FROM: COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT Costa Count MAY 7 1992 V DATE: rr. .`Py; cuur+� APPROVAL OF 1992 HEAD START CONTRACT WITH HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE SUBJECT: COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I . RECOMMENDED ACTION AUTHORIZE the Director, Community Services Department, or her designee to execute and sign a Contract with Housing Authority of the County of Contra Costa in the amount of $180, 620 for the Contract period of April 1, 1992,- through December 31, 1992., to purchase, install and license a portable classroom module in Brentwood for the County' s Head Start program. II . FINANCIAL IMPACT N/A. Funds for this action are already reflected in the depart- ment ' s 1991-92 budget and have been incorporated into the proposed 1992-93 budget. III . CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION A decision not to approve this Contract will result in the loss of a portable classroom facility for Head Start children residing in the Brentwood area. IV. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDED ACTION This proposed action provides funding to the Housing Authority to purchase, install and license a classroom module in Brentwood for the County' s Head Start program. This Contract will be reviewed and approved by County Counsel as to form prior to issuance. No County funds are involved with this request.
