CC: ATTESTED Please see Page 2 . PHIL BATCHELOR,CaRK OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS AND COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR BY DEPUTY M382 (10/88) I.O.-3 -2- BACKGROUND: There is currently a seat on the Hazardous Materials Commission designated for a representative from the Solid Waste Commission. This seat was intentionally left vacant following the resignation of the most recent representative and following the enactment of AB 939 so that the Board of Supervisors could determine which organization was the most appropriate to be represented on the Hazardous Materials Commission. The Board of Supervisors has since abolished the Solid Waste Commission. The Integrated Waste Management Task Force has now indicated that it wishes to have the seat on the Hazardous Materials Commission which had belonged to the Solid Waste Commission. The Hazardous Materials Commission concurs in this decision. The Integrated Waste Management Task Force has nominated Councilwoman Price as its representative and our Committee concurs with that appointment. The Hazardous Materials Commission has traditionally had three seats representing cities which have been appointed by the Contra Costa Mayors ' Conference, acting in its capacity as the City Selection Committee. It is appropriate for the Board of Supervisors to acknowledge these appointments, although the Board is not required to actually confirm the appointments. Councilwoman Corbin' s term on the Hazardous Materials Commission expired December 31, 1991 and the Contra Costa Mayors ' Conference has reappointed her to a new, full four-year term. cc: County Administrator Health Services Director Barbara Masters, Staff to the Hazardous Materials Commission, HSD Auditor-Controller County Counsel Councilwoman Barbara Price Councilwoman Rosemary Corbin s
