Jim has been a strong proponent in uniting with other county departments to provide services to improve the quality of life for the residents of Contra Costa (i.e. Living Free, Family Preservation, and homeless shelters) . He has also worked with other county and state officials to increase Title IV-E funding for family-centered services. During Jim's directorship, there has been an increase in line staff in the district offices providing services to the county population. He was able to bring the Department into the 1990' s by expanding computerized programs to aid staff in providing services. Jim has also advocated within the Department and the county the development of opportunities in training and career development for every employee. We are very appreciative of Jim' s excellent leadership during these tough economic times. His presence and input will be sincerely missed, and we wish him well as he embarks on this new phase of life.
