MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: APRIL 7, 1992 SUBJECT: AUTHORIZE$70,000 FOR SOIL STABILIZATION AT 2372 SADDLEBACK DRIVE, LOT 54, SUBDIVISION 5024, BLACKHAWK GEOLOGIC HAZARD ABATEMENT DISTRICT SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) &BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. Recommended Action: AUTHORIZE an allocation of $70,000 for construction of soil stabilization at 2372 Saddleback Drive, Blackhawk. II. Financial Impact: None. III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: One of the properties in the Blackhawk development, 2372 Saddleback Drive, has experienced some subsidence of the house over the past several years, and this has resulted in some distress cracks within the house itself. The District Geologist and consulting geologists have reviewed the original grading construction plans and have been monitoring the movement of the house for more than one year. A solution to stop the soil movement, as well as the movement of the house, includes the construction of a "pinwale' along the back slope of the property. This pinwall could be approximately 180 lineal feet long, with approximately 30 drilled piers at a depth of approximately 30 feet each. The estimated budget for this project could total $70,000. Since the GHAD regulations require that any construction project over $20,000 must be submitted to the Board of Directors for prior approval, this request for authorization of the $70,000 is being submitted.
