HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04281992 - 1.69 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on April 28, 1992 by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Powers, Fanden, Schroder, Torlakson and McPeak NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None RESOLUTION NO. 92/268 In the Matter of Extending a Grant ) Application to the Oakland Athletics ) Baseball Company in conjunction with ) the Lucky Stores/Oakland A' s Youth ) Baseball Fields Program ) WHEREAS, the County of Contra Costa and the City of Richmond have been informed by the Oakland A' s Baseball Company of its selection as a finalist, in conjunction with the Annual Lucky Stores/Oakland A' s Youth Baseball Fields Program, to construct much needed recreational playing fields in the North Richmond community; and WHEREAS, in the mid-1970 ' s the City of Richmond did annex an eight (8) acre site in North Richmond for the expressed purpose of installing baseball playing fields for the youth of this deserving community; and WHEREAS, in response to recent concerns expressed by community residents regarding the need for recreational activities for youth, the commitment to commence construction in fiscal year 1992-93 has been affirmed by the County of Contra Costa, the City of Richmond, and the East Bay Conservation Corps to provide in-kind services and assistance to assist project development; and WHEREAS, the grant funds from the Lucky Stores/Oakland A's Youth Baseball Fields Program would augment other fund commitments, including funds committed by the East Bay Regional Park District, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that by the adoption of this resolution, the Board of Supervisors herein states its support and authorizes the submission of a grant application to the Oakland Athletics Baseball Company, in conjunction with the annual Lucky Stores/Oakland A' s Youth Baseball Fields Program. The Board received a letter dated April 3 , 1992, from Virginia J. Balesteri, President, Ponderosa Cable Systems, Ltd. , 1855 Gateway Boulevard, Suite 340, Concord, making application to expand its cable television franchise area in the Tassajara and Dougherty valleys of southern Contra Costa County. IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that the request is REFERRED to the Cable Franchise Administrator.
