SUBJECT: APPROVING FIRST AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT BETWEEN OWNER AND ARCHITECT FOR
ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES FOR REMODELING FIRST FLOOR AT 50 DOUGLAS DRIVE,
MARTINEZ, FOR DISTRICT ATTORNEY FAMILY SUPPORT (WH351D)
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I . RECOMMENDATION
A. EXERCISE the option to extend described in Appendix C,
Paragraph F of the Agreement Between Owner and Architect
with Interactive Resources, Inc. , dated March 1, 1991,
APPROVE the First Amendment to the Agreement, and AUTHORIZE
the Director of General Services to execute the Amendment
which ( 1) will extend and enlarge the Agreement to require
the Consultant to provide full Architectural Services,
including Bidding and Construction Phases and (2) will
increase the Payment Limit of the Agreement.
B. AUTHORIZE the Director of General Services to issue
written authorizations for extra work, provided that the
cumulative total extra cost for all such authorizations
shall not exceed $25,000 . 00 .
II . FINANCIAL IMPACT
This Amendment will increase the encumbrance for basic
architectural services from $97,870 .00 to $123,900.00. There
are sufficient funds in the plant acquisition account for this
project to cover the encumbrances .
III . REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND
A. On March 19, 1991 the Board exercised the County's Option
to Purchase the office complex at 50 Douglas Drive,
Martinez, California, in accordance with the terms of a
Lease dated January 22, 1991, between Bank of the West and
the County.

ATTORNEY FAMILY SUPPORT (WH351D)
B. On March 19, 1991, in Resolution No. 91/178, the Board
also accepted assignment of an Agreement dated March 1,
1991 (erroneously referred to in the Resolution as dated
January 22, 1991) between Bank of the West as owner and
Interactive Resources, Inc. as architect, for
architectural services for tenant improvements on the
first floor at 50 Douglas Drive, Martinez .
C. The Board approved Construction Documents on December 17,
1992 . For the project to proceed without delay or
discontinuity in services, it is necessary to amend the
Agreement to remove the stipulated limitation of services
clause. Approval of this Amendment will effectively
extend and enlarge the Agreement to require the Architect
to provide full architectural services, adding the Bidding
and Construction Phases.
