RECOMMENDATION:
Appoint to the "Financial Management" seat on the Contra Costa
Health Plan (HMO) Advisory Board for a three year term expiring
January 31, 1995, replacing Stephen Hamill :

BACKGROUND:
The CCHP Advisory Board includes a seat for an expert in financial
management. That seat has been held by Stephen Hamill, whose term
expired January 31, 1992 and who has asked not to be reappointed.
Mr. Kalin has both educational and experience background in areas
of financial management and has been recommended to us for
appointment to this vacancy. In reviewing Mr. Kalin' s resume,
which is attached, it is clear that Mr. Kalin' s background and
experience would be of assistance on the CCHP Advisory Board and we
are, therefore, pleased to endorse his appointment.

The CCHP Advisory Board, at its meeting last night, voted unanimously to recommend Jeffrey
B.Kalin, 1014 Camino Verde Circle, Walnut Creek to the vacant financial expertise position on
the Advisory Board. The term of office ends January 31, 1995.
The Advisory Board reviewed all the applicants and after careful screening decided that Mr.
Kalin had the best combination of education, professional experience, and community board
participation for the Advisory Board position.
I am enclosing copies of all the applications received. Please let me know if you need any
additional information.
