SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) &BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. Recommended Action:
A. APPROVE Amendment to Purchase Agreement from Robert L. and Judith J. Harmon.
B. AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director to sign said Amendment on behalf of the Contra
Costa County Fire Protection District.
C. APPROVE payment of $11,345.00 and AUTHORIZE the Auditor-Controller to issue a check
for said amount payable to Robert L. Harmon and Judith J. Harmon, 2985 Rohrer Drive,
Lafayette, CA 94549, to be forwarded to the Real Property Division for delivery.
II. Financial Impact:
Payment of $11,345.00 from District funds.
111. Reasons for Recommendations and Background:
On March 12, 1991, the District acquired real property from the Harmons for the Devon Fire
Station site in Pleasant Hill. The original purchase agreement required the District to construct
certain replacement driveways and parking areas for those to be lost during the station
construction. The Harmons wish to contract for this work;the$11,345.00 represents the Distict's
estimated cost if it had to do the work.

W. Consequences of Negative Action:
The responsibility for the additional work will continue to rest with the District at perhaps a higher
cost in the future, along with the requirements of contract monitoring and scheduling that could
conflict with the Harmon's dental practice. The above proposed amendment excludes the
District from these responsibilities.
