Occasion of Her Retirement )
Whereas, Janette Holman began her career in the Social Service
Department in 1960 as a Social Worker Trainee, served as the
Neighborhood Service Center Supervisor at the Rodeo Service Center
from 1977 to 1982, and has been a Social Service Division Manager
with responsibility for various programs in West County since 1988;
and
Whereas, Ms . Holman has been active in professional Social
Worker organizations including serving as President of the Bay Area
Association of Black Social Workers as well as President of the
California Association of Black Social Workers . While President of
the California Association of Black Social Workers, she was
instrumental in the writing and passage of AB 548 which provided
for transracial adoption of children; and
Whereas, Ms . Holman has also been .active in community service
serving on the Board of Directors for United Way of the Bay area
from 1980 to 1984; and
Whereas, Ms . Holman' s career has covered all programs and
geographic areas within Contra Costa County where she demonstrated
continued commitment to programs serving the needy, disadvantaged,
and disabled. Her combination of caring, skills and managerial
expertise has been of lasting value to the Social Service
Department and the citizens of this County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of
Contra Costa County that Janette Holman be commended for her 31
years of devoted service to the Social Service Department which is
greatly appreciated; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Janette Holman be granted good
health and great happiness throughout her retirement years .
