RECOMMENDATIONS: DIRECT AND AUTHORIZE the Executive Director of the Housing Authority of the County of Contra Costa, on behalf of the County, to execute an Amendment of Contract No. 20-846-2 with the Volunteers of America (VOA) to extend the County's use of the 12 bed women's shelter in Richmond from April 1, 1992 to April 30, 1992 . II . FINANCIAL IMPACT: The anticipated cost to extend the women's shelter for one month is $4,320. This cost will be funded by General Funds and Federal/State Homeless Grants . III . BACKGROUND: The reasons for finding that the continued temporary use of the women' s shelter beds at the VOA Family Support Center are as follows : 1 . The County' s Emergency Winter Relief Shelter Program will end on March 31, 1992 . The temporary emergency shelters associated with the Emergency Winter Relief Shelter Program are located at 2147 Arnold Industrial Way in Concord and 847 Brookside Drive in Richmond. They will be closed on this date. 2 . Continuance of the women' s shelter will moderate the impact of the impending shelter closing.
