SUBJECT: Farmers' Market Use of County Property
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION
1. Authorize the Contra Costa Certified Farmers' Markets, Inc. to
use the County property at the former Oak Park Elementary
School at 1700 Oak Park Boulevard, Pleasant Hill for Saturday
morning markets.
2. Direct the General Services Department to prepare an
appropriate agreement for the property use by the Farmers'
Market.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
None
BACKGROUND
The County Administrator has received a request from the City of
Pleasant Hill and the Contra Costa Certified Farmers' Markets, Inc.
to locate the Saturday market from the Hope Center in Pleasant ,Hill
to the County-owned property on Oak Park Boulevard.
The Market must be relocated from the Hope Center location and has
not been able to locate a suitable site. The Market is in
operation from May through November of each year. The organization
has a paid manager on site each Saturday and maintains adequate
insurance coverage. The request has been reviewed by the City of
Pleasant Hill, the Growth Management Agency and the General
Services Department.

Use of the County site by the Market would be with the
understanding that sale or development of the site would preclude
their use. The future plan for the Market is to relocate within
the City redevelopment area near City Hall.
