OF
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
In the Matter of 'Honoring the )
MARTINEZ-PACHECO '',ZETTER CARRIERS ) RESOLUTION NO. , 92/ 167
on the Occasion of Their 1st )
Annual Food Drive )
On March 31, 1952, the Martinez-Pacheco Letter Carriers will be
collecting food door-to-door during their lst Annual Food Drive.
The drive is in coordination with the Contra Costa Food Bank, and
all food collected will be distributed directly to needy Contra
Costa citizens.
The letter carriers have had an in-house food drive for the past
four years at the!' .r post office. However, when they found out that
the Food Bank' s ' requests for assistance are up 40 percent 'and
donations are down 13 percent, the letter carriers decided to
increase their efforts to fight hunger by collecting food door-to-
door as they deliver the mail on their daily routes. The carriers
have also committed to conduct. the drive without any extra cost to
the Postal Service or its customers.
The Board of Supervisors commends the Martinez-Pacheco Letter
Carriers and Postmaster Curtis Ross for their compassion and
willingness to tackle this very serious problem, and we extend our
best wishes for much success in their efforts to help fight hunger
in Contra Costa County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors honors
the MARTINEZ-PACHECO LETTER CARRIERS on the occasion of their 1st
Annual Food Drive.
PASSED AND ADOPTED ON March 24, 1992, by a unanimous vote of the
