HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06041991 - S.6 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA in the matter declaring June 6, 1991 as Coach Ted Resolution 91/ 342 Abbott Day in Contra Costa County WHEREAS, for the last four decades Ted Abbott has been a full time swimming and baseball coach in Contra Costa high schools; and WHEREAS, over 20,000 students have benefitted from the teaching skills which Ted Abbott possesses; and WHEREAS, Ted Abbott started coaching in the early 50's at Harry Ell's High School in Richmond, moved to College Park High School in Pleasant Hill, and has finished his coaching career at Northgate High School; and WHEREAS, Coach Abbott had the distinction of coaching Tom Powers as a youth and helped turn a fledgling young swimmer into a virtual seal, or at least a mam- mal that can swim; and WHEREAS, Coach Abbott was a true inspiration to his teams as he represented the best in what people could expect from a coach; NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County hereby declares Thursday, June 6, 1991 as Coach Ted Abbott Day; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Board of Supervisors on behalf of the people of Contra Costa County thank Coach Abbott for his many years of service to our youth and the community.
