HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06041991 - 1.46 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA 'In the Matter Proclaiming the Week of June 10, 1991 through Resolution 91/ 339 June 16, 1991 as KQED Vacation Video Week WHEREAS, our children are our most important human resource for the future; and WHEREAS, providing quality educational resources for our children is of extreme importance to the people of Contra Costa County, the state, and the nation; and WHEREAS, the Instructional Television Department at KQED provides an outstanding service year-round to educational institutions and children in Contra Costa County and Northern California; and, WHEREAS, Vacation Video is a significant force in assuring that quality educational and entertaining television programming continues to be available for children during the sum- mer months; and, WHEREAS, Channel 9 is celebrating the United Nation's Year of the Family with the 15th anniversary of Vacation Video; and, WHEREAS, Vacation Video programs and magazine activities encourage children to develop stronger relationships with their families and to become active members of their com- munities; and, WHEREAS, Vacation Video's multi-ethnic Action Kids provide children with positive role models; and, WHEREAS, Vacation Video encourages children to learn during the summer by provid- ing an entertaining curriculum of science, math, history, arts and crafts; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa that the week of June 10 through June 16, 1991 be proclaimed as KQED Vaca- tion Video Week in Contra Costa County. Introduced by: Supervisor Tom Powers Passed and adopted by a unanimous vote of those Supervisors Chair Present.
