San Ramon Creek at Livornia Road Excavation Project No.: 7520-6138481 and 0672-6U2401 SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATIONS) &BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. Recommended Action: APPROVE the issuance of a purchase order to Double D Transportation Company. II. Financial Impact: The cost of the site preparation work is $58,602.00. The cost will be charged as follows: 59.72% to 7520-668481 40.28% to 0672-6U2401 III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: The Board APPROVED excavation contracts with Double D Transportation Company on April 11, 1989, March 6, 1990 and September 24, 1990 for soil removal adjacent to San Ramon Creek at Livorna Road. The excavation site was occupied by old structures, foundations, concrete rubble, debris and trees and other.vegetation which was removed by the contractor prior to the start of excavation. The contracts provide no means of paying for the required site clearing. A portion of the removed material was stockpiled road debris. Therefore an equitable portion of the site preparation cost will be borne by the Public Works Maintenance program. IV. Consequences of Negative Action: District staff approved additional work that was reasonably necessary to fulfill the approved contracts. Payment is required to keep the County's good faith commitment to pay the contractor.
