The non-General Fund money is included in the Proposed Budget for Budget Unit 0585, which is a fund whose revenue is generated by a fee of $19 on each marriage license issued in the County. This marriage license fee is levied in accordance with Welfare and Institutions Code Sections 18291 to 19307 and SB 1330 (Chapter 522, Statutes of 1982) . The use of these funds is restricted by law to the support of domestic violence victim assistance programs. The contract contains a condition that states that the contract will be terminated without notice should no funds be appropriated for this service. in the County's final budget for 1991-92. It will also contain a provision for immediate reduction of the payment limit should the marriage license fee no longer be forthcoming or if collections fall below anticipated levels. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND This contract provides for the continuation of funding of needed spousal abuse assistance services by Battered Women's Alternatives, Inc. IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION Failure to approve this request will result in the reduction or loss of services provided by Battered Women's Alternatives, Inc. , to the citizens of this County.
