Spooner, Contracts Administrator Costa DATE: June 13, 1991 @ County SUBJECT: Approve Ambulance Service Agreement #23-055-8 with San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve and authorize the Chair to execute on behalf of the County, Ambulance Service Agreement #23-055-8 with the San Ramon Fire Protection District for the period from 12:01 a.m. on January 3, 1991 through 12:00 midnight on January 2, 1993 for provision of emergency ambulance Services in County's Emergency Response Area 4. This document includes provision for a four-month automatic extension through May 2, 1993. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no County General Fund impact. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND: On June 5, 1990, your Board approved distribution of a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Emergency Ambulance Service; directed the Health Services Director to report back to the Board on the recommendation for emergency ambulance service providers for Emergency Response Areas 1, 2, 4, and 5; and authorized the Health Services Director to extend the existing emergency ambulance service agreements (including Ambulance Service Agreement #23-055-4, as amended by Contract Amendment Agreement #23-055-5 and extended by Contract Extension Agreements #23-055-6 and #23-055-7 with San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District) through January 2, 1991. The RFP set standards for ambulance service based upon the Measure H Service Plan for enhanced emergency medical services and established a process for proposal review. On September 11, 1990, your Board approved the selection of San Ramon Valley Fire, as one of two agencies, to provide emergency ambulance services and authorized the Health Services Director to negotiate contracts based upon the proposals submitted by these agencies. Negotiations have been completed and the new Ambulance Agreement format has been approved by County Counsel. Therefore, the Department is requesting approval and execution of Ambulance Service Agreement #23-055-8 with San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District.
