HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06181991 - 1.62 T0: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS FROM: PHIL BATCHELOR County Administrator DATE: June 7, 1991 SUBJECT: RELIEF OF CASH SHORTAGES - INMATE CASH FUND Specific Requests or Recommendations(s) & Background & Justification RECOMMENDATION: AUTHORIZE relief of cash shortages in the Inmate Cash Fund of the Sheriff-Coroner's Office as recommended by the County Auditor-Controller, and District Attorney REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: Cash shortages occurred in the Inmate Cash Fund between March 199.0 and March 1991 in the amount of $2,429.25. The amount consists of .$2,219.75 at the Martinez and Clayton Detention Facility and $209.50 from a previous year, 1987. The shortages in inmate cash were the result of many reasons, including tremendous volume of individual transactions and undoubtedly included employee error, computer system malfunctions and release of inmates with negative accounts.
