RAINEY, Sheriff-Coroner Contra Costa DATE: May 23, 1991 County SUBJECT: Training Agreement - CHP SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Rescind board action 1-042 of May 21, approving a training contract for one Contra Costa County Deputy Sheriff with the CHP, and approve, authorize chair to execute on behalf of the County, as required by the California Highway Patrol, a training agreement between the County and CHP for two (2) Contra Costa County Deputy Sheriffs to attend a Commercial Enforcement Training Course. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The cost of the course, not to exceed $1, 300. 00, will be reimbursed by the State of California under the Peace Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T. ) Plan III. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: This training will enable the Sheriff's Department to evaluate weight and mechanical restrictions for heavy trucks and trailers. A requirement for participating in this training program is that the signed agreement must be on file with the Office of the CHP. The agreement basically guarantees payment by the County and holds harmless the State of California resulting from the County employee's negligence or omissions in connection with the physical facility or other acts related to the agreement.
