SUBJECT: APPROVAL of Contract Change Order No. 8 for the Highway 4 Widening Project in the
Discovery Bay Area
Project No. 4660-6X4122-88

I. Recommended Action:
APPROVE Contract Change Order No. 8 in the approximate amount of $10,300.00 and
AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director to execute it in order to compensate the contractor,
Teichert Construction, Inc., for placing fill and repairing damage caused by Underground
Construction Company.
Il. Financial Impact:
The project Contingency Funds are sufficient to cover the change order costs. The source of
funds is the Discovery Bay Area of Benefit.
III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background:
The cumulative total of contract change orders No. 1 through No. 8 exceeds$25,000.00, requiring
APPROVAL. Fill was needed to install power poles; damage caused by Underground
Construction was best repaired by the contractor. Underground Construction Company will
reimburse the County for the cost of repairs.
IV. Consequences of Negative Action:
The Lack of APPROVAL would preclude payment for work required.
