Watt on the event of his retirement) as Director of Community Planning and ) Assistant City Manager with the City ) of Pleasant Hill, California. ) RESOLUTION NO. 91/ 378 WHEREAS, Mr. Paul C. Watt, a resident of Pleasant Hill, graduated from the University of Illinois in 1949 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Landscape Architecture and City Planning; and WHEREAS, since 1949, Mr. Watt has been extensively involved in city planning and transportation issues through his work as, among other things, Director of the National Capitol Regional Planning Council in Washington, D.C. , as Director of the Planning Department of the Metropolitan Dade County Planning Department in Miami, Florida, as an Associate Partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Harland Bartholomew and Associates, a planning consultancy firm and as Deputy Executive Director of the Tri State Transportation Commission in New York; and WHEREAS, from 1970 to 1978, Paul Watt served as Executive Director of the Bay Area' s newly formed Metropolitan Transportation Commission and worked to prepare, adopt and implement the Regional Transportation Plan for the nine county San Francisco Bay Area; and WHEREAS, as the Director of the Community Planning Department for the City of Pleasant Hill since 1978, and as Assistant City Manager for thepast two years, Mr. Watt has had a sizable .influence on the development of central Contra Costa County; and WHEREAS, Paul Watt has been affiliated over the years with the American Institute of Planners and the Transportation Research Board and is Past Chairman of the Transportation Section of the Commonwealth Club of California; and WHEREAS, after forty-two years working in the areas of transportation and city planning, Mr. Paul C. Watt retired in April, 1991 and will be honored with a dinner on June 22, 1991. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County THANKS Paul C. Watt for his contributions to the Contra Costa County community and WISHES him and his wife, Grace much health and happiness in their future endeavors. PASSED AND ADOPTED by unanimous vote of the Board members present on this 11th day of June, 1991.
