FISCAL IMPACT None. BACKGROUND/REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS The Contra Costa Water District is currently in the process of negotiation for additional water supplies. CCWD receives their water allocation from the Federal Bureau of Reclamation, which has cut the allocation by 50% this year, due to a prolonged drought situation. As a result, the water district has imposed mandatory water rationing of 26% to its customers. The Water District is in the process of appeal to the Bureau for an additional allocation minimum of 10,000 acre feet, in order to minimize hardship to its customers, which would make rationing requirements more consistent with the rest of the County, (and most of the State) . If unsuccessful, the Water District will appeal to other sources such as the State Water Bank, established by Governor Wilson in response to the drought.
