HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 05071991 - 2.11 2. 11 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on May 7 , 1991 by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Schroder, McPeak, Torlakson, Powers NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: Supervisor Fanden -------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------- SUBJECT: Request for Reconsideration of the Naming of the MonTaraBay Softball Field The Board considered the requests of Leona Hermansader and Richard Knoblauch for reconsideration of its decision- of April 2, 1991, to name . the MonTaraBay Softball Field the "Dennis Fransen Memorial Field. " The following persons spoke: . Leona Hermansader, 2459 Shamrock Drive, San Pablo, 94806; and Richard Knoblauch, 2636 Rim Road, San Pablo, 94806. Scott Tandy, Assistant County Administrator, advised of the April 29, 1991, regular quarterly meeting of County Service Area M-17 residents and county staff, and of the discussion on this matter under "Citizens Open Forum. " Supervisor McPeak spoke on the need to honor Dennis Fransen in a location where the community wants that to happen. She recommended that the Board declare its intent to honor Dennis Fransen for his community service and to look at all options for this to occur. Supervisor Fanden advised that when she had presented the recommendation to the Board on April 2 , 1991 to name the MonTaraBay Softball Field after Dennis Fransen, it was in- response to requests coming from the community. There being no further discussion, IT IS ORDERED that the Board DECLARES its intent to name a facility in the County after Dennis Fransen. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the Board REFERS this matter to the Internal Operations Committee to invite nominations from the community for the naming of the ball diamond field facility in MonTaraBay.
