Ward I Vacancy )
WHEREAS, the East Bay Regional Park District currently has a vacancy on its Board
of Directors Ward 1 which is part of. Alameda County and part of Contra Costa
County; and
WHEREAS, Marshall Walker III from Richmond has applied to fill that vacancy; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Walker has demonstrated his personal commitment to making West
County a better place as an urban planner for the city of Richmond; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Walker has excellent credentials which make him uniquely qualified
including a B.A. in geography and graduate work in public administration; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Walker is committed to improving the environment and to making our
public resources more available to all East Bay residents no matter where they
live or what their socio-economic background is; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Walker has strong ties to the community and to organizations here
including SEIU Local 790, the Central Labor Council, the NAACP, and the Private
Industry Council; and
WHEREAS, as a Richmond resident of African American heritage, Mr. Walker would
bring greater diversity to the East Bay Regional Park District Board of Directors
and a fresh perspective on environmental and recreational issues;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County
supports the application of Marshall Walker III to be appointed to the Ward I
vacancy on the East Bay Regional Park District Board of Directors.
