FISCAL IMPACT None BACKGROUND/REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS The transit industry across the country will observe the week of May 12 through 18 as National Transportation Week. May 15 has been established as National Transit Appreciation Day to focus attention on public transit and to honor transit systems and employees who provide safe, efficient and courteous public transportation services to communities across the country. In recent years, these agencies have been expanding and improving service throughout the County and providing more interconnections between their service areas. Transit Appreciation Day is an opportune time for the County to extend recognition to these agencies and their employees and to express appreciation for their efforts.
