MICHAEL WALFORD, CHIEF ENGINEER DATE: May 7, 1991 SUBJECT: Approve Agreement with Pacific Gas & Electric for Relocation of Electric Facilities for the Walnut Creek Project, Flood Control Zone No. 3B. Project No.: 7520-668637 SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATIONS) &BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. Recommended Action: APPROVE the agreement with the Pacific Gas & Electric Company, AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director to execute agreement for the relocation of electric facilities, and DIRECT the County Auditor-Controller to issue a purchase order to Pacific Gas and Electric Company for the electric facility relocations in an amount not to exceed $12,000.17 and to prepare a warrant to Pacific Gas & Electric Company in the amount of$12,000.17 as payment of the purchase order. II. Financial Impact: By the terms of the agreement, the Flood Control District is required to pay the relocation costs of $12,000.17 prior to:!the commencement of the work. The costs are reimbursable from the California Department.,of Water Resources at the rate of 100 percent. III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: By resolution dated January 21, 1958, the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County gave assurances of local cooperation to the Corps of Engineers for the Walnut Creek Project. Among these assurances is the requirement to provide for the relocation of all roads, bridges, and utilities required for the project. The required relocations include the facilities owned by Pacific Gas and Electric Company described in the agreement. Upon completion of the work, the Pacific Gas and Electric Company will provide an accounting of the actual costs of the relocation. Consequences of Negative Action: Without the purchase order, the Flood Control District will be unable to complete the required relocations, which would be cause for the Corps of Engineers to stop further work on the Walnut Creek Project.
