RECOMMENDATION
Acknowledge receipt of report from John H. deFremery, Agricultural
Commissioner - Director of Weights and Measures, regarding the defacing
and destruction of confiscated weighing and measuring equipment.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
No financial impact to the County.
BACKGROUND/REASON FOR RECOMMENDATION
Sections 12507 and 12500. 10 of. the Business and Professions Code
requires that every Sealer of Weights and Measures shall deface and
destroy or otherwise dispose of the confiscated weighing and measuring
equipment that the Sealer has held for four years. These sections also
require that the Sealer furnish the Board of Supervisors of the County
in which the Sealer is serving, a list of items so disposed of together
with the names and addresses of the owners or users of such equipment.
Accordingly, the equipment on the attached list was confiscated in 1986 ,
or prior to, and disposed of in February, 1991.
