FROM: RICHARD K. RAINEY, Sheriff-Coroner
Costa
DATE: April 30, 1991 @ County
SUBJECT: Training Agreement - CHP
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve, authorize chair to execute on behalf of the County,
as required by the California Highway Patrol, a training
agreement between the County and CHP for a Contra Costa County
Deputy Sheriff to attend a Commercial Enforcement Training
Course.
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The cost of the course, not to exceed $650. 00, will be
reimbursed by the State of California under the Peace Officers
Standards and Training (P.O.S.T. ) Plan III.
III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND:
This training will enable the Sheriff's Department to evaluate
weight and mechanical restrictions for heavy trucks and
trailers. A requirement for participating in this training
program is that the signed agreement must be on file with the
Office of the CHP. The agreement basically guarantees payment
by the County and holds harmless the State of California
resulting from the County employee's negligence or omissions
in connection with the physical facility or other acts related
to the agreement.
