Rydingsword, Director Costa Social Service Department _ s County DATE: March 21 1991 `Pv / rrd C46U SUBJECT: AUTHORIZE EXECUTION OF AMENDMENT #40-009-1 OF THE CONTRACT WITH OMBUDSMAN SERVICES OF CONTRA COSTA, INC. SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. RECOMMENDED ACTION Authorize the Director, Office on Aging or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment # 40-009-1 with Ombudsman Services of Contra Costa, Inc. for the term March 15, 1991 through June 30, 1991 which increases the Payment Limit from $36,902 to $41,855 for provision of additional Long-Term Care Ombudsman Services. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT None. No County dollars required. New funds are federal and state dollars exclusively. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND On Dec. 11, 1990 the Board of Supervisors authorized negotiations, execution and signature of the Contract with Ombudsman Services of Contra Costa, Inc. , for the term January 1 - June 30, 1991 in the amount of $36,902 . On Feb. 13 , 1991 the California Department of Aging issued Program Memo PM 91-09 (P) which provided for additional Title III Ombudsman Supplement funds for FY 90-91 for Area Agencies in the State of California. Contra Costa County Office on Aging was allocated $4,953 in Long Term Care Ombudsman Supplemental funds for the Ombudsman Program. The Director, Office on Aging recommends authorization to execute the Contract Amendment. O City of Richmond Fire Department, Supervisor Powers commented on the amount of money that has already been expended by the County �v on the purchase of a brand new truck, training, equipment, and a computer to keep track of hazardous materials generators. He noted that the new truck has not been put into service because it lacked equipment and trained staff to operate it. He called attention to the fact that the City of Richmond has not made any financial contributions to this project although the City is the primary benefactor- . Supervisor Powers commented on the delays that have prevented the equipment .from being put on line. He advised the Board of a letter he has sent to the Mayor, City of Richmond, and that he would provide the Board with copies of that communication. He then recommended the adoption of referenced contracts.
