SUBJECT: Contractors State License Board Agreement
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve and enter into the attached agreement between Contra Costa County and
the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) for on line access to contractor' s
files.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Positive. The cost of connection is more than offset by the time saved in
having a consolidation of license and insurance information, which will
reduce by approximately 35% the number of permit applicants turned away for
insufficient information.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Contra Costa County has participated in a pilot project since March, 1990 in
which direct access to Contractors State License Board' s files is permitted.
This enables the Building Inspection Department to readily ascertain the
currency of contractor license information. This increases service and
reduces the number of individuals being turned away. The Contractors State
License Board is currently in the process of adding worker's compensation
insurance information to their contractor's license file. This will
significantly enhance County ability to provide better service.
