HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04021991 - S.4 S. 4 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on April 2, 1991 by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Fanden, Schroder, McPeak, Torlakson, Powers NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None SUBJECT: Closure of the Martin Luther King Jr. Facility Mark Finucane, Health Services Director, advised Board of Supervisors this day of notification he had received from the Program Officer of Region IX, U. S. Public Health Services, of Region IX' s determination to close the Martin Luther King Jr. facility in Richmond. He commented on the participation of various represented groups in meetings and discussions, and the time and effort expended in developing a bail out plan to keep the clinic open. He advised of his efforts for scheduling a conference call with the Regional Director to discuss this situation and would shortly thereafter advise the Board of the results of that conversation. On recommendation of Supervisor Powers, IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that the Health Services Director is AUTHORIZED to convey to the U. S. Public Health Services the Board' s concern with Region IX' s announcement of the .closure of the Martin Luther King Jr. facility. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, THAT THE Health Services Director is INSTRUCTED to contact Congressman Miller' s office seeking his assistance to allow staff to present at the scheduled Friday meeting its proposal for the continued operation/management of the facility.
