Twenty-seven Years of service ) with Shell Oil Company ) WHEREAS William Sharkey has often been referred to as a good scout, possibly due to his achieving the rank of Eagle Scout in 1947; and WHEREAS William (Bill) Sharkey was at one time- the Editor of the Contra Costa Gazette; and WHEREAS William Sharkey has participated in community programs such as the Many Hands Project, 1968-1974, Martinez Riwanis President 1973, Lt. Governor Riwanis 1977-78, President Pleasant Hill Rotary 1960-61, Member, Private Industry Council - eight years, also served as Chairman of the Private Industry Council, Department of Labor Region IX Representative 1982-86, Board member Phoenix Programs, Martinez Education Foundation 1984-1991, President Contra Costa Council Navy League ten years, Board Member Easter Seal Society four years, Employer Advisory Board 1974-91, Martinez Chamber of Commerce Board fifteen years, also served as Chamber of Commerce President in 1976 & 1989, California Employers Council Legislative Chair, Martinez Marina Commission 1958-62, Martinez Human Resources Commission 1970-74, Citizens for Jobs 1968-74; and WHEREAS William Sharkey has been the Employer Relations Representative for the Shell Oil Company and will be retiring with twenty-seven years experience under his belt; and WHEREAS William Sharkey is exceedingly proud of his affiliation with one of the safest refineries in the United States, having won numerous National Safety Council and National Refiner's Association Awards for their exemplary safety record. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa, California, hereby CONGRATULATES William Sharkey, III on his retirement, COMMENDS his professionalism and EXTENDS to William its best wishes for a very pleasant and well-earned retirement. PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE BOARD ON APRIL 2, 1991. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of a resolution entered on the minutes of said Board of Supervisor. the date aforesaid.
