SUBJECT: CAMP FIRE CITY KIDS DAY CAMP PROGRAM
I. RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve expenditure of $7,500 from Housing Authority Local Management Funds for
the Camp Fire City Kids Day Camp Program at Bayo Vista, CAL 11-10, Rodeo; ,El Pueblo,
CAL 11-5, Pittsburg; and, Las Deltas, CAL 11-6, North Richmond, and AUTHORIZE the
Executive Director to' execute the necessary agreement to implement the program, as
recommended by the Advisory Housi-ng Commission.
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Funding for this program is available in the Housing Authority's Local
Management Fund Account.
III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND:
For the past five years the Housing Authority has contracted with the
Alameda-Contra Costa Council of the Camp Fire to operate a two week summer City Kids
Program (formerly Crimebusters) in several public housing developments operated by
the Housing Authority,., This program has been very successful and the Alameda-Contra
Costa Council of Ca* Fire submitted a report on the 1990 program to the Housing
Authority.
The Alameda-Contra Costa County of Camp Fire has proposed a 1991 Crimebusters
Day Camp for three Housing Authority developments. The program will serve a total of
approximately 200 youngsters` at the three proposed sites of Bayo Vista ,in Rodeo, Las
Deltas in North Richmond and E1 Pueblo in Pittsburg. The total cost to the Housing
Authority for this year's program would be $7,500.
On April 15, 1991 both the Budget Committee and the Policy & Strategy Committee
of the Advisory Housing Commission reviewed the Camp Fire Crimebusters Day Camp pro-
posal for 1991 and recommended that the Advisory Housing Commission recommend appro-
val of the program to�jthe Board of Commissioners. At its Regular Meeting on April
15, 1991 the AdvisoryalHousing Commission voted to recommend approval of the 1991 Camp
Camp Fire City Kids Day Camp Program proposal and to authorize allocation of $7,500
from the Local Management Fund of ,the Housing Authority for this program.

IV. CONSEQUENCES OF',iNEGATIVE ACTION:
Should the Board of Commissioners elect to not approve the expenditure of $7,100
from Housing Authority Local Management Funds to authorize the Camp Fire City Kids
Day Camp Program at Bayo Vista, CAL 11-10, Rodeo, E1 Pueblo, CAL 11-5, Pittsburg, and
Las Deltas, CAL 11-6, ' North Richmond, the youth of those areas will be deprived of a
valuable tool to assist them in fighting crime.
