ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON THE EMPLOYMENT AND ECONOMIC STATUS OF WOMEN
Attached for your consideration is an application submitted by Lee Annette Berger for
appointment to the Youth Category, and applications from Mollie Fujioka, Wanda Harris,
and Joan Leslie, for reappoint to the Senior Women Category, Women's Organization
Category, and Traditional Professional Category respectively on the Advisory Committee
on the Employment and Economic Status of Women (ACEESW).
A press release announcing vacancies, including the Youth Category, was sent to
newspapers, to person's listed on the Women's Coalition and ACEESW's interested party
lists, and to high schools and to all colleges in Contra Costa County; approximately 85
notices of vacancies were issued. Ms. Berger's application (attached) is the only one
submitted for the Youth Category. The term of membership is through 2/28/94. The
ACEESW recommends the appointment of Ms. Berger to the Youth Category vacancy.
She is a student at Saint Mary's College in Moraga, majoring in business with a minor
in communications. She is currently a Junior class Senator at St. Mary's College, a
member of the Health committee and Media board, and the Director of Public Affairs for
the on campus radio station, KSMC.
Our Membership Review. Committee interviewed the applicant and explained the work of
the ACEESW, activities undertaken and issues targeted by the ACEESW, and membership
attendance requirements. Ms. Berger has attended several of our meetings. She is
very interested in serving on the ACEESW and has indicated that she has the time
required to participate on the ACEESW.
The Board also needs to make three appointments to the Advisory Committee on the
Employment and Economic Status of Women (ACEESW) for positions whose terms expire
on 2/28/91. All of the current incumbents have submitted their application for
reappointment (attached) and each of their reappointments has been fully endorsed by
the ACEESW.
