SUBJECT: THE SOLID WASTE COMMISSION

RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. Appoint to the Integrated Waste Management Task Force
representing the "Other Sanitary Districts" , as nominated by
the Kensington Community Services District:

BACKGROUND:
On February 5, 1991, the Board of Supervisors declared vacant the
seat on the Integrated Waste Management Task Force and the Solid
Waste Commission held by Dorothy Sakazaki, representing the
"Other Sanitary Districts" on the basis that Ms. Sakazaki had
declined to serve on the Task Force and the Commission.
The Board of Supervisors requested additional information from
the other two candidates who had been nominated by Sanitary

Districts. This information was presented to our Committee on
February 25, 1991. We have reviewed both , applications and
believe that both candidates are well qualified. We have,
however, selected Mr. Pierce on the basis of his background and
experience and the leadership which the Kensington Community
Services District has shown in the area of recycling.
