SUBJECTApproval of Standard Contract #24-587 with Center for Applied Local
Research
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve and authorize the Chair to execute on behalf of the County,
Standard Contract #24-587 with Center for Applied Local Research, in
the amount of $60, 000 for the period from March 1, 1991 through October
31, 1992 for evaluation of the "Taking Back Our Community" Office of
Treatment Improvement Grant Project., which provides drug abuse
treatment services for residents of public housing. This contract
includes a six-month automatic extension through April 30, 1993 .
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT:
This contract is funded under a Grant Award from the ,U.S. Department of
Health and Human Services (Office of Treatment Improvement) for the
"Taking Back Our Community" Critical Populations Grant which comes to
the County through the Annual Drug Program Allocation from the State
Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs (Fed. Cat. #3 .902) . No County
funding is required.
III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND:
The Grant Award for the "Taking Back Our Community" Critical Popula-
tions Grant requires evaluation of the project by an independent
contractor. This evaluation will be conducted by the Center for
Applied Local Research under Contract #24-587 .
Evaluation will include analyses regarding the effectiveness of the
implementation of this Office of Treatment Improvement' s Grant to
create drug treatment services in public housing in Contra Costa
County.
