IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
IN THE MATTER OF )
Declaring March 25, 1991 "American)
Cancer Society Daffodil Day" )
in Contra Costa County ) RESOLUTION NO. 91/ 165
WHEREAS, the American Cancer Society is a national volunteer
organization dedicated to the control and elimination of cancer; and
WHEREAS, each year the Contra Costa Unit of the American Cancer
Society chooses one day and sells bouquets of daffodils throughout
the County; and
WHEREAS, each year, Daffodil Day is a major fundraising event
for the Contra Costa County Unit of the American Cancer Society; and
WHEREAS, all proceeds from Daffodil Day will benefit the Ameri-
can Cancer Society' s national and local programs of research, public
and professional education and patient services; and
WHEREAS, the Contra Costa Unit of the American Cancer Society
has been an active and longtime participant in Contra Costa County' s
fight against cancer; and
WHEREAS, the daffodil, the first flower of spring, was chosen
because it symbolizes the American Cancer Society' s message of hope
that someday cancer will be eliminated; and
WHEREAS, Monday, March 25, 1991 has been set for the American
Cancer Society' s 6th Annual Daffodil Day celebration.
NOW, THEREFORE, BEIT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of
Contra Costa County hereby DECLARES March 25, 1991 to be American
Cancer Society Daffodil Day throughout Contra Costa County and URGES
all residents of the County to support this worthwhile endeavor.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by unanimous vote of the Board members
present on this 19th day of March, 1991.
