MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: March 12, 1991 SUBJECT: Approve and Authorize the Chairperson to Execute Program .Supplement No. 001 for Kellogg and Kendall Creek Bridge Replacement on State Route 4. Project No.: .4660-6X4067 SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S) &BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. Recommended Action: APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Chair of the Board of Supervisors to execute Program Supplement No. 001 which provides State-Local Transportation Partnership Funds to widen and replace bridges on State Route 4 at Kellogg and Kendall Creeks. II. Financial Impact: Execution of Program Supplement No. 001 will allow the County! to receive State-Local Transportation Partnership Funds for a portion of the total project cost. The estimated project cost of$467,447 includes construction engineering, construction and contingencies. State funds will be used to reimburse the County for approximately 22% of the estimated project cost. The remaining 78% will be funded by the Discovery Bay Area.of Benefit. III. Reasons.for Recommendations and Background: if On June 27, 1989 the Board of Supervisors approved a resolution authorizing the Public Works Director to apply for State Local Transportation Partnership Funds for various road improvement projects. The project described by Program Supplement No. 001 is one of several projects that will receive state funding under Senate Bill 300. The project involves replacing existing bridges on State Route 4 at Kellogg and Kendall Creeks. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: (Cont) State Route 4 will be widened from approximately 26 to 40 feet to provide wider travel lanes and adequate shoulders for the current 2 lane facility. Construction of the Kendall and Kellogg Creek bridges is part of this project. The highway will ultimately be widened to 4 lanes with a permanent 6 foot median. IV. Consequences of Negative Action: The County will not receive State-Local Transportation Partnership funds for this project. ;i j� hi 'I
