MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: July 10, 1990 SUBJECT: Approve Contract Change Order No. 1 for the Appian Way Widening Project. Project No. 0662-6R4288-84 Speck Request(s) or Recommendations)&Background&Justification RECOMMENDED ACTION: AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director to execute contract Change Order No. 1 in the approximate amount of $110,000.00 to compensate the contractor Gallagher & Burk, for increased contract items cost and for required force account work. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The project contingency funds are sufficient to cover this change order cost. It is funded by Federal Highway Administration funds (FAU-86%) and Local Funds (14%). REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: Some contract item quantities needed to be increased to conform with the quantities shown on the plans. Due to other unforeseen conditions, some force account work was required. Because this change order exceeds $25,000.00, Board APPROVAL is required. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The lack of APPROVAL would preclude payment to the contractor for work required by the contract drawings and for work required by unforeseen field conditions.
