CHIEF GEORGE STRAKA ) RESOLUTION. NO. 90/ 349
George Straka has been with the .Concord Police Department since
1966. In 1968, he was appointed Sergeant and worked his way
through the _ranks to become Chief of Police in 1981. For the
past nine years, Chief Straka has represented the position and
the Department with skill, honesty, and integrity; and now after
23 years of service, Chief Straka is retiring. ._ ,
Chief Straka has utilized his leadership to implement the fight
against drug abuse in the City of Concord. He has been active in
countywide drug abuse programs and has endorsed the County' s
Community Drug and Alcohol Action .Plan. He is a law enforcement
instructor and has served on numerous community and. law enforce-
ment associations--as always, giving of his time, talents, and
energy to our citizens:
Chief Straka' s leadership. as a police chief is well known
throughout Contra Costa County, and we are fortunate to have
benefitted from his many years of service to this community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors
congratulates and thanks Chief George Straka for his 1.years of
service to the Concord Police Department and wishes him health
and happiness in his retirement.
PASSED AND ADOPTED ON June 5, 1990, by a. unanimous vote of the
Board members present.
